They Don’t Teach You Stress Management in School!

What do kids, husbands, mother in laws, getting the kids to school on time and a poop mural on the wall all have in common? Stress!!!

When I was a new mom, new wife, new resident, I got sick because of stress, and everyone told me that, but did you know what they didn’t tell me? How to manage it! Isn’t that crazy, doctors don’t know how to manage stress, and now living in stress is now the common norm.

Did you know that stress causes more than 80% of complaints that patients present to their doctors, as it can exacerbate almost any chronic illness?  Tweet this

But what is crazier, just by teaching you stress management techniques, we can decrease 80% of the doctor’s visits! Oh, wait, now I know why we were never taught stress management.

Having a regular practice of mind body techniques—such as breathing techniques, guided relaxation, and guided imagery—can have a powerful positive effect on health. Such a routine helps to maintain a balanced inner world, developing a more measured response to stressful situations and helps to keep damaging hormones at bay. Optimal stress management to teach our bodies to be a little calmer plays a large role in preventing and/or reversing chronic illnesses.

4 Everyday Stressful Situations.

Short-term stress, leads to:

  1. Fatigue
  2. Weight gain
  3. Constant illnesses
  4. Hair loss
  5. Skin, mood, digestive, hormonal, and sleep issues.

With chronic stress, that can be external, like personal life challenges, or internal, like emotional issues, unrealistic expectations, low self-esteem, fears, guilt, and mood issues or even something that happened in childhood, our body feels like it is constantly under attack, with limited downtime between stressors, and this disrupts the healthy state of equilibrium, can double our chance of:

  1. Obesity
  2. Diabetes
  3. Heart disease
  4. Cancer
  5. Suppression of the immune system
  6. High cortisol levels

 

  1. Raises blood sugar levels, triggering leptin and insulin resistance, negatively affecting good bacteria, lowering our levels of probiotics, promoting overgrowth of bad bacteria, that interfere with the production of neurotransmitters increasing leaky gut
  2. Stress suppresses immune molecules, leading to inflammation, and chronic illnesses.

So a simple stress management technique into your daily routine can prevent disease in you and your family. So we gotta learn this, how?
