As our lives get busier, people seem to get meaner.
Let’s take a small break. Here is a short story.
I’m talking to the lady in the grocery store who actually asked if I knew what protection was. What? Not all my kids were accidents. They are all, the best thing that have ever happened to me. The best gifts I could have ever been given. So now I need to take care of them the best that I know how. Teach them to take care of their mind, body and soul.
Gratitude and meditation are keys in taking care of your body, mind and soul as well as Forgiveness. It seems this busier, mean world is just going to get meaner, so teaching my kids to be resilient is so important.
Meditation practices are exercises we do in order to build the skill of mindfulness awareness. Mindfulness is the caring, compassionate, non-judgmental, non-reactive awareness of our own experience, our thoughts, our emotions, our physical sensations, and the world around us.
When meditation is practiced regularly, meditators find that they are able to handle everyday stress and challenges in a calmer, less reactive manner. Our problems and difficulties are seen from a new perspective.
Gratitude and meditation are keys in taking care of your body, mind and soul as well as Forgiveness.

Forgiveness.
What does Forgiveness do?
I teach them that acts that have offended or hurt you can always remain a part of your life, negatively affecting your health. These acts can increase inflammation, preventing you from completely healing from chronic disease.
Forgiveness involves a decision to let go of resentment and thoughts of revenge, lessening the hurt, helping you focus on other, positive parts of your life. It can lead to feelings of understanding, empathy, and compassion for the one who hurt you.
In order to forgive, try to understand the others’ actions, bringing compassion and passion into the situation. Journaling could help you turn the negative into positives, helping to assign a new meaning and a new positive label to the hurt. As crazy as it may sound, be grateful for every person who may have hurt you, as they have made you who you are. This is just a perfectly crafted chapter in your unique journey. Eventually, resolve the negative charge attached to the event, allowing you to forgive yourself and others as you surrender the pain to a higher power.
“There is an enormous physical burden to being hurt and disappointed,” says Karen Swartz, M.D. director of the Mood Disorders Adult Consultation Clinic at The Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Forgiveness is a choice, Swartz says. “You are choosing to offer compassion and empathy to the person who wronged you.” The following steps can help you develop a more forgiving attitude—and benefit from better emotional and physical health.
Another spiritual practice that is important in our lives is prayer. We as Muslims pray 5 times a day setting time aside to connecting with our soul. Concentrate on connecting to a divine energy or create affirmations and visualizations.

Combining either a walking or breathing meditation with any prayer increases our mental focus, deepening our prayer. You could join a spiritual group like a prayer circle or group meditation. This can hold you accountable and provide you with the support to help grow you spiritually.
Spiritual practices that help to lower inflammation:
- Therapeutic touch
- Healing touch
- Qigong
- Reading inspirational books or stories
- Practicing artistic self-expression
These activities can help you find your purpose and heal chronic disease.

Spiritual practices help you lower inflammation.
Every day our minds are full of worries, thoughts, and dreams, but at a deeper level, the mind begins to quiet, and it is this deeper level that is the core of the spiritual practice.
Find a spiritual practice that works for you because that is the key to healing chronic disease. There are many types of spiritual practices and other ways that will allow you to connect with your soul, refresh the spirit and lower inflammation. Find what works for you and do it.
So breathe—give yourself permission to heal and be happy. You deserve it! Be thankful for all that is going on right in your life. I am thankful for you!
