Managing Stress Is Taking Care of You.

I get it. You are busy. But despite our busy lives, we need to dedicate some time for ourselves, especially if you don’t want to get sick. If you do want to get sick, and you are type of person that gets a high off of being in a hospital bed, well then continue stressing. But I am not that person, and if you aren’t either, then let’s get relaxing.

Why? Because a daily practice of relaxation techniques can help decrease:

  1. Anxiety
  2. Lower blood pressure and heart rate
  3. Keep damaging hormones at bay
  4. Change gene expression
  5. Improve blood circulation and digestion
  6. Enhance the overall immune system

These all have a powerful positive effect on you and your health. Now comes the fun part! Managing stress is easy. So how can you make this happen? First identify what your stressors are and then find a strategy that works for you. It isn’t impossible! It’s so easy and cost-effective (so exciting!). Let’s get you relaxing! Yay!

Once you know what the stress response feels like and you have mastered the skill, you can use this when you start to feel stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed and can prevent the stress from getting out of control.

This allows you to be fully present in life despite facing its challenges and stresses, for now and the future.

Now find a method that works for you, we are all different. There are so many options!

Remember, managing stress is all about taking care of the most important person in the world–You!Tweet this

You got this! In order to relax well – let’s learn the basics- practice makes perfect, now that’s my kind of exercise. So remember, the relaxation response is a mentally active process (so sitting in front of the TV or computer doesn’t count) that leaves the body relaxed, calm, focused, and content.

Most relaxation techniques can be incorporated into your existing daily schedule, like at lunchtime, during commutes, or at bedtime, as you only need about 10 to 30 minutes a day.

As you learn relaxation techniques, you will become more aware of muscle tension and other physical sensations of stress.Tweet this
