Three HUGE Unspoken Tips to Optimize Ramadan
We all know this month is not about food, but it is about optimizing our bodies and our souls spiritually and physically.
When it comes to spiritual health, Allah (SWT) has placed a direct connection between our physical and spiritual health, and most importantly our food.
Consider- The first sin that humankind made was eating what we weren’t supposed to be eating. For disobeying Allah, we were punished and pushed out of heaven into where we are today. How can we raise as a society or even get close to heaven, when we haven’t learned the lesson and if we continue to eat what we aren’t supposed to be eating?
When Allah or our Prophet (S) talk about food, they emphasize PURE quality, SMALL quantity, and NUTRIENT dense foods. The fact is that when we open our fasts, our plates are full of artificial foods, low in nutrient density and eating WAY too much food!

The Quranic Perspective on Food
This Ramadan, we must change this.
Start to focus on pure quality, small quantity and Qur’anic/Prophetic (s) foods. Check below for an amazing Ramadan Recipe Book (Free).
Tayyib is a very comprehensive word and has a great place in the Qur’an and Sunnah. The word ‘tayyib’ itself means to be pure, good, clean, wholesome, gentle, excellent, fair and lawful, while the opposite Khabith means impure, GMO, artificial like colors, preservatives, etc.
Now that we talked about the importance of eating tayyib. Let’s dive into what we should eat for suhoor (pre-dawn meal) and iftar (after sunset meal) that will keep us healthy and most importantly successfully through our fasts. Focus suhoor and iftar on veggies, fruit, protein, and healthy fats, and you can’t go wrong. Here are examples:
